Prevention Starts with Empowerment and Mentorship
At A Girl At A Time (SL), we believe that empowerment is not a luxury. It is prevention in its most transformative form. Across Sierra Leone and in vulnerable communities around the world, prevention begins not with policing but with purpose, self-worth, and support.
Through our programs, we empower girls and youth-at-risk to break cycles of violence, poverty, and marginalization not just by telling them they matter, but by equipping them with the tools, mentorship, and leadership skills to believe it themselves.
How We Make an Impact
Peer Education & Trauma-Responsive Mentorship
We provide safe, consistent spaces for young people to be heard, guided, and inspired.
Our mentorship model acknowledges trauma and fosters resilience and healing.
Leadership Training
Through dynamic workshops and training, participants develop the confidence to lead in schools, communities, and beyond.
School-Based and After-School Programs
Our school clubs teach consent, communication, confidence, and life skills that reduce dropout rates and increase help-seeking behavior.
Culturally Rooted, Community-Led Interventions
Programs are tailored to local realities, respecting tradition while fostering sustainable change through trust and relevance.
Investing in Youth Through Sports and Community Engagement
In May 2025, we proudly extended our empowerment mission beyond the classroom by supporting youth sports initiatives:
The Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association
Cline Town Grassroot Foundation Soccer Team
Local youths and their dedicated coaches
These community champions each received over 1,000,000 SLL (one million leones) to further their development and outreach efforts. This support was made possible through the heartfelt generosity of Alimatu Dimonekene MBE and Ambassador Alice Hannah Kanjia, both dear friends and unwavering supporters of A Girl At A Time.
Their contribution speaks to the heart of our mission empowering youth in every space they occupy, whether on the court, in the classroom, or in their communities.
